RadioactiveNerd Fashion Photoshoot

Our lovely Geek Girl Emmaliene looks super cute modelling these geeky designs by RadioactiveNerd (they've actually even been featured on our site before too)! Here's what Emmaliene said about it...

"RadioactiveNerd is a fantastic local designer who makes geeky themed skirts! I was absolutely thrilled when she asked me to model for her, and was even more stoked when I saw the work of the photographer, stylist, and makeup artist present! I modeled one of her Where the Wild Things Are skirts, one of her Doctor Who skirts, and two of her Star Trek TOS!"

Feminism is Having a Wardrobe Malfunction Comic

We have recently been very harshly criticized and insulted by both men and woman for posting geeky scantily clad images of women on our site. This was not shocking to us as we've been posting images such as these for years now and every time we do someone is very vocally offended by a woman having the audacity to *gasp* show her body. Now anyone who's actually followed our site for some time knows we have always supported geeky pinup/lingerie/burlesque/implied nude shoots and been very vocal about everyone's right to dress and pose as revealing or modest as they choose. The reason for this is that who are we to judge what is right and wrong, it's a personal choice and we don't discriminate against people for their personal choices. Many of our girls are nude models or burlesque performers as well as geeks and we fully support their choices. It may be "wrong" to you but you are not everyone's moral authority and you don't get to dictate to others what is right or wrong for them. No one's saying you have to like it, but there's no need to lecture and berate people for their choices.

Anyway, I could go on, but this comic by Rosalarian nicely illustrates the hypocrisy of a lot of these people and here's what the artist said about her inclusive brand of feminism...

"Feminism is having a wardrobe malfunction.

Does your brand of feminism remove barriers for women, or simply move them around? Does is expand options for women, or does it just shift them? You donít liberate women by forcing them to choose option B instead of option A. What is comfortable for you might not be comfortable for someone else, and itís entirely possible that what you see as oppressive, other women find comfortable or even downright liberating.

Before you think the girl in the middle is a strawman, let me tell you I used to be her, back in my misguided youth. I considered myself the standard to which other people should adhere. But that was stupid. Itís not up to me to tell people how to dress, and itís much nicer to let everyone choose for themselves.

Some women would feel naked without a veil. Some women would find it restrictive. Some women would feel restricted by a bra. Some women would feel naked without one. Some women would feel restricted by a tight corset. Others love them. Some wear lots of clothes with a corset. Some only wear the corset and nothing else. What makes any article of clothing oppressive is someone forcing you to wear it. And itís just as oppressive to force someone not to wear something that they want to wear."

Harley Quinn Woven Blanket

OMG WANT! Every Harley fangirl or fanboy needs to snuggle up with this new Harley Quinn Woven Blanket from ThinkGeek...

"Dontcha need a blankie, Puddin?

We're crazy about Harleen Quinzel, pun intended. Her character feels so established. It's hard to remember she was born from Batman: The Animated Series and that she doesn't have all the history behind her that a villainess like gal-pal Ivy does.

This throw features Harley Quinn posing in front of a black, red, and white harlequin argyle background. Measuring 50" x 60", it's perfect to fold over the side of the couch and break out during Batman movie sessions. Pop some popcorn. Break out the sodas. And don't forget the pudding, Puddin'."
