HENCHGIRL #1 Comic Book Preview

Check out this preview of the upcoming comic book HENCHGIRL #1, the book is available for pre-order and hits comic book stores in September. Henchgirl Comic was created by Kristen Gudsnuk and is published by Scout Comics.

IO9 called it "A terribly fun read"! Mary Posa hates her job. She works long hours for little pay, no insurance, and, worst of all, no respect. Her coworkers are jerks and her boss doesn't appreciate her. He's also happens to be a supervillain. Cursed with a conscience, Mary would give anything to be something other than a Henchgirl!

Night Time Frozen Cosplay

Geek Girl Northern Belle Rogue and Don't Panic Cosplay look adorable as the sisters from Disney's Frozen, Elsa and Anna in their PJs. Here's what they both had to say about the shoot...

Northern Belle Rogue: "As the music began over the Disney logo the first time I ever watched Frozen I already knew I was in love. The Rogue in me couldn't help but be torn between two characters; one with a white streak, the other forced to hide behind a glove. Perhaps it is my frosty nature, or the fact that Don't Panic Cosplay's klutziness far exceeds my own but when we got together we knew exactly which Arendelle daughter we were each meant to play. For our first shoot as these characters we wanted to go with something light hearted and fun, thus we decided to do adult versions of their sleepwear. Don't Panic Cosplay had also made Frozen pillows, which of course we decided to fight with. While we've done other siblings before, I really enjoy these particular characters for us... I wouldn't be surprised if they became part of our regular catalog."

Don't Panic Cosplay: "It was so much fun doing the pajama set of Frozen. I really wanted to capture Anna's spirit in the morning with a few of the shots, but the best part was getting to show off the sisterly love between best friends. I tried to incorporate all the different versions of Anna into one- her playfulness as a child, and her adoration of her big sister as an adult. It was probably one of the most fun shoots to date getting to explore the character and her relationship with Elsa."

Top 10 Disney Bromances: Pets Edition

Article by: Geek Girl Northern Belle Rogue

While Disney is known for it's intense relationships, recently I put together a list of not their romantic relationships but the bromances that exist. This time around I thought I'd take a more specific look, as the mother of three cats, to the relationships between Disney characters and their pets. So here it is the Top 10 Disney Bromances: Pets Edition!

Steampunk Tinker Bell Cosplay

Madeline Masquerade looks gorgeous cosplaying as a steampunk version of Tinker Bell from Peter Pan in these incredible images by Sharkey Imaging! Here's what she had to say about it...

"I've always liked the aesthetic of Steampunk fashion, and Tinkerbell has been near and dear to my heart for a while so I thought, why not combine the two? I knew I didn't have the sewing talent to create my dream cosplay, so I contacted my friend Joellen of Firefly Path to flesh out and fabricate the design. Needless to say, I'm absolutely thrilled at how it came out! I had worn it for a few years (the costume was originally finished in 2012) but I had never had a photoshoot in it until now! I hope you guys like it, because it's probably my favourite outfit I own!"

Wastelander Photoshoot

Geek Girl Mistress Zelda kills it yet again with another one of her badass and sexy post-apocalyptic inspired shoots! Here's what she had to say about this one...

"If you didn't know by now, post-apocalyptic costuming is my ultimate favorite. This was an outfit I made for Wasteland Weekend - all leather, straps, chain and cat food tabs! The chainsword was made by my fiance and actually functions, although it has a new paint job now. Luckily I managed to get a couple shots of this against the desert backdrop of Wasteland Weekend, since this series is just studio shots. I am making an updated version of this outfit for Wasteland Weekend this year and can't wait to share it :)"

Enchanted Poison Ivy Cosplay

Avant-Geek looks absolutely gorgeous in her original design Enchanted Ivy (Poison Ivy) cosplay. Here's what she had to say about it...

"This is an updated version of my old 'Enchanted Ivy' costume that the Geek Girls page posted over two years ago. Hope you like what I've done with it!

I love whimsical designs that resemble nature in some way; whether it's the material literally being something from it, or symbolic aesthetic. In this case: both.

I remember watching Uma Thurman play Poison Ivy at the drive-in theatre as a child. It's a pretty strong memory, and she was a 'pretty strong' character and as much as I tried, I couldn't relate to her. Over the years I guess I secretly wished she'd been more elegant, softer... intense WITHOUT also being crazy, like so many female villains are made to be. This is what I came up with."
