Aoi PaigeeWorld Mascot Painting

Hi! I'm Geek Girl Paingu, I typically post cosplay here, but I wanted to share with you an illustration I did for PaigeeWorld, a cocial network for artists! :) This is an illustrated painting of Aoi (PaigeeWorld's mascot) I did which was 24x48 or something like that :)

Step 1: I did an initial sketch. this I checked multiple times before I transferred it onto the tracing paper.

Step 2: I traced the sketch making sure I only drew the lines that were important.

Step 3: I rubbed the pencil off of the tracing paper on top of the wood canvas, this way I had a light outline of the image. I then used paint pens to line Aoi.

Step 4: I painted with special ShinHan Poster paints! They are some of the best paints I've ever used and I would definitely recommend them to other illustrators out there :)

I posted a selfie of me and my painting to show scale :)

To see more of my artwork check out my art profile on Paigeeworld and also check out my youtube channel if you want to see my art-related videos :)

Hyrule Warriors Zelda Cosplay

Sayakat Cosplay looks epic cosplaying as her original Zelda design! Here's what she had to say about it...

"I recently completed my Zelda cosplay, based on the Hyrule Warriors character design. This cosplay was based on some of the concept art for the game, and some personal interpretation. The entire costume was made by me, and the photographs were taken by Spath Shoots. The armor is made from wonderflex and worbla. "

Steampunk Black Cat Cosplay

Phobos looks fabulous cosplaying as a steampunk version of Black Cat! Here's what she had to say...

"I decided to cosplay as Black Cat when I saw the beautiful steampunk version of the character by Joe Benitez. I really wanted to do a steampunk costume and at the same time I was looking for a cool "villain" to cosplay, so Joe Benitez's Black Cat was perfect ! It was the first time I worked with (fake) fur but I think it turned out good and I was very proud of the result. It was great to embody such a playful and sexy character, and I really had a ton of fun wearing this costume on the convention floor!"

An Interview with Retired Wonder Woman

We previously featured the awesome entertainer Retired Wonder Woman and here is an amusing interview with her by Mitchell Doig of Comicbookcitypodcast.com...

It seems as though there is another benefit of living in Comic Book City that we haven’t noticed yet; retired superheroes like to come here to hang up the cape. One of these heroes graced us with her presence at Rose City Comic Con and seems to be taking the world by storm for the first time since Lynda Carter portrayed her in the 70s TV show that carried her name sake. Who am I talking about? (Retired) Wonder Woman of course! I used my connections to get a hold of everyone’s favorite Amazonian for a short interview. Enjoy!

Note: At the start of this interview, I thought I was interviewing a cosplayer. I may have been wrong about that (I think?).

TraumaticCandy Cosplay and Utau Hotaru Cosplay look amazing as Shizuma Hanazono and Nagisa Aoi from Strawberry Panic! Geek Girl Ailes Noires took these lovely photos and here's what she had to say...

"One of my favourite shoots to come out of my Anime North 2015 weekend! I had a wonderful time shooting with TraumaticCandy cosplay again, this time with her partner Utau Hotaru Cosplay. Both cosplaying from a yuri series called Strawberry Panic as main characters Shizuma Hanazono & Nagisa Aoi. Strawberry Panic is one my favourite series out of the yuri genre so I was very excited to do this shoot. Especially with these two girls. I adore them both, their chemistry together is amazing! They both pulled off their characters so well, I'm so happy I got to do this shoot with them!"

City Maps Printed on T-Shirts

The appeal of maps lies in their aesthetic beauty and how personal they can be: your childhood home, the city where you studied, your first house or a great holiday. Taking 80 custom-designed maps from cities all over the world and turning them into elegant, stylish and great-fitting t-shirts, Sheffield’s Alex Szabo-Haslam aims to inspire with his latest design project – Citee. If you love maps, and wear t-shirts, this is literally right up your street – there are bound to places you've lived or visited.

The unique series features beautifully illustrated, highly detailed maps printed on American Apparel t-shirts. Maps are stripped back to their purest shapes (no names or locations are shown), leaving a minimal, modern, and distinctive form. From London to Los Angeles, Nottingham to Nashville, there are more than 80 cities from across the globe. Alex's approach to design is obsessive, and this really shows through in his work: every effort has been made to ensure roads, rivers, and buildings look beautiful.

Each t-shirt is printed using a technique known as sublimation, which literally dyes the intricate design into the super-soft fabrics – meaning the crisp detail on each t-shirt won't fade in the wash.

Despite the hours of planning, designing and testing that have already gone into the project, Citee still needs your help. Utilising the crowd-funding website, KickStarter, Alex has just 35 days for supporters to ‘pledge’ funds towards the project. The project reached its £2000 target within 36 hours, but now the stretch goal is to raise £10,000 to purchase printing equipment and premises (which will mean support for local artists and, eventually, jobs).

T-shirts start at just £24 with additional bundle options.
