"I made this costume over the course of 2019, to debut in the summer time. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles is a series I absolutely fell in love with once my friends convinced me to read the manga. When I mentioned wanting to cosplay Tomoyo my friends all jumped at the opportunity to put together a full Tsubasa cosplay group.
This costume has some of my cleanest sewing work to date and allowed me to practice with things like wig work and foam clay. I enjoyed every step of making this costume and look forward to wearing it again. When I moved to Ottawa, my friend Gaba/Golden Panda Bear Photography and I decided the fall time would be the best time to shoot some solo Tomoyo photos, and am I ever glad we did. Gaba made me look absolutely majestic."

"Since high school, I had always been interested in dipping my toe into the world of comic books; the art, the stories, the captivating pages. Johnny The Homicidal Maniac was the first graphic novel I ever owned and I absolutely loved it. From then on I had dabbled into a few other stories, some manga and the occasional Shojo Beat/Shonen Jump.
When I finished high school, I somewhat fell out of reading completely when it sunk down on the adult priority list. By the time I had properly learned how to manage my time (8 years later) I had developed a sort of anxiety about being a woman who is interested in reading comics. Stepping into a comic book store was scary, and all kinds of thoughts would fill my mind; I don't know much about what I'm looking for or what I'm interested in, does this make me a poser? A wannabe? Am I only doing this for attention?
One day, when I was rediscovering myself and unlearning old behaviors and thought patterns, I pushed past those anxieties and took the plunge. I opened up a discussion with my best friend at the time (who is now my partner), to which he excitedly dragged me along to the comic store he frequents on a weekly basis. Was it overwhelming? Yes. Was it as scary as I thought it would be? Not in the slightest. He dropped a pile of comics into my arms that he thought I would like and the first one I picked up that night to read was 'Sunstone' and I absolutely loved it; I was instantly encompassed in the beautiful story. The art made me feel what the characters were feeling. There's also nudity, which is always a plus.
What I learned that day is that no one can tell you what you like; only by experiencing things for yourself will you figure out if it's for you. Showing interest in something, but not knowing everything about it, doesn't make you a poser - it makes you human."
