Geeky 8-bit Blankets SnowCosplays
makes these awesome geeky quilts! Here's what here friend had to say...
"3 are of the quilts she's done, and 1 is of the dress she made mostly out of the random fabric we had lying around (since I refer to her keeping fabric and using every last scrap of it -- the dress is a ballgown version of Rainbow Brite).
Once upon a time, I didn’t understand the need to save every scrap of fabric that my partner of 15 years kept tucked away in the basement. This is probably the most blasphemous statement a cosplayer could ever make... which is probably why my partner makes all of our costumes. I may give her crap for her constant statement of, “I’ll need this later,” but I’ve come to terms with the fact that she absolutely means it. After all, she’s the one who can take rainbow colored remnants to create an insane amount of ruffles for a ballgown. It’s nice reaping the benefits of a seamstress.
Recently, she took on a new challenge when she realized that she had lots of fleece scraps lying around. Much to the dismay of our cats who like to use fabric as their own personal bed space -- you know, like cats do -- she looked at me and asked a simple question: “Pick a character.” On a whim I responded with the blue bomber himself: Mega Man. After that, I watched her as she gathered together bits and pieces of fleece, cut them into 2 1/2 inch squares, and sewed together one of the coolest blankets I’d ever seen... after several weekends, of course. My favorite thing about this blanket -- besides the look of it -- is the fact that it feels pixelated. Oh, and it’s super soft, comfortable, and big enough to completely cover me up (that's me standing behind the blanket to show how big it is).
Since the Mega Man blanket, she’s gone on to tackle “Legend of Zelda” (which is still in progress, it just needs the border) and Prompto from “Final Fantasy XV.” She’s currently open for commissions, and is eager to create more geeky, 8-bit blankets. Feel free to message her here
