Star Trek: The Starfleet Academy Experience
| Review by: Geek Girl Critical Miss
I recently had the opportunity to participate in the brand new Starfleet Academy Experience premiering here in Ottawa, Ontario. Now, I was there for a Star Trek themed wedding (which I will write another article on) and we got a private showing of the exhibit.

First off, it was fun. You get an interactive bracelet (much like the Star Wars Experience a few years ago) and that allows you to answer questions and participate in being part of Starfleet. It introduces you to all the aspects, Command, Medical, Science, Communications, Engineering, Tactical and Navigation and it places you as you go through the exhibit.
Highlights of the exhibit were the costumes that were on display. What a wonderful array of costumes that we got to look at up close and personal. The Borg costume and the Klingon ones were really wonderful to look at, the detail and what materials they actually used, all extremely helpful to avid costumers.
At the end of the exhibit, you get to do the Kobayashi Maru test and see how many people you can save, I saved 60 before my ship blew up. :P
My only critiques were that the speakers were hard to hear so I failed the Klingon speaking test and it was difficult to hear the Kobayashi Maru instructions as there were a lot of people in the room, good thing there subtitles.
At the end of the experience, you get an email with your results and the picture you take to make yourself into an alien. I got Command. :)
So all in all, if you are a Star Trek fan, you should check it out if it comes to a city near you.
