Disney Art Made from Layers of Paper
Artist
Jackie Huang makes these incredible works of art from a paper layering technique and the results are beautiful! She told
Bored Panda more about her work...
"The medium I use is something most people encounter as an everyday object – paper. I try to turn that ordinary object into something extraordinary. Something that asks the viewer to stop, to take a second look, and to think outside the box.
I first got into paper art through pop-ups. At school, I had been struggling with my drawing and painting skills for a while. I wanted rules and yes/no answers for things, but art doesn’t usually work that way. But when I found paper as a medium, everything clicked. I’ve always had a very good sense for 3D spatial reasoning so I found working with paper to be very natural.
Now, I use a variety of techniques to create my work – layering, quilling, paper engineering, etc. I don’t limit myself to a particular technique so I can explore and experiment.
I seek inspiration from lots of places – animation, fashion, stationery, packaging, and children’s books. The biggest inspiration though has been events from my own life. It may sound cheesy, but I think that’s when I create my best work. It’s when I can tell the story that no one else can tell."
