looks stunning cosplaying as Mera and here's what she had to say...
"Mera is a character I've wanted to cosplay for some time, but being stuck in a land locked province I hardly had the motivation. (Okay so Ontario isn't entirely landlocked, we do have the Great Lakes, but as someone from the East Coast, tis no ocean!) All that changed however when I was invited out to Avalon Expo 2 in Newfoundland. Being on an island, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean... this possibility excited me and I quickly ordered some scales and rings and began working on my own design of Mera. While I was headed out for AvEx I knew I wouldn't want to shoot Mera inside a convention and I was lucky enough that Sarah Hall Photography wrote to me when I was announced as a guest. We orchestrated to shoot at what is known as Outer Cove. This shoot was SO much fun. If anyone ever ends up in St. John's area, you should definitely reach out to this lady! We were both in and out of the water trying to get the best shots possible. I must admit, this was my first time just sitting IN a waterfall and holding onto the rocks to fight the current. The most challenging shot however was the one I like to call 'The Water Goddess'. While there were tons of giant rocks on shore for us to climb upon, none intrigued me quite like the lonely rock out in the middle of the ocean. After a few attempts I need the Cajun to come out and boost me, and boy was that rock super slippery to the touch. I also managed to disturb a rather large spider on the rock who climbed up my costume, and kudos to the Cajun for managing to get it off me without calling my attention to it or I'd have surely freaked out, slipped and possibly died. Mera was such a fun and powerful character to do, I will definitely be doing a few more versions of her in the future. A huge thank you to both the Cajun and Sarah Hall Photography for all their hard work! I cannot wait to be Queen of Atlantis again some time soon."
