Harley Quinn Cosplay
Our amazing Geek Girl
Zelda cosplayed her original version of the twisted villainess we all know and love, Harely Quinn!
"Like most cosplaying girls, Harley Quinn has always been one of my favorite characters. This was my third time making a Harley Quinn outfit in my 10 years of cosplaying (although I plan to do 2 more in 2013!). The very first modeling shoot I ever did was Harley Quinn themed, and it was one of the first costumes I ever made on my own. I have been collecting Harley Quinn themed art from conventions for over 10 years, and this was even my second time having Harley Quinn themed hair (the first time was a red and black mohawk with diamonds on the sides).
I had the chance to go get my hair done by a photographer and costume designer friend of mine, Scare Crobot. She's done dreadlocks for me before, but this time around we decided to go for something different and do them in Harley Quinn theme (the dreadlocks were made of acrylic hair and braided into my hair and lasted for about a month).
I've never attempted an original Harley Quinn design as I've seen a lot of them I didn't like (including some of the official DC reboots!) - So doing an original design was a challenge for me. I put this outfit together in a few days for Long Beach Comic Con, and it was a pretty big hit. There were other things I would have loved to do with the costume (it had been my original intention to make a big ruffled Victorian style collar) but I still really like how it came together. There's still nothing like classic Harley, though.
The photos were taken by Robert Nelson. I had been wanting to work with him for quite some time, and this was my first chance getting to. I'm really happy it was for this outfit, as I think he did a killer job capturing it!"
