Geek Girls Marvel Cosplays

Some of our Geek Girls put together their favorite Marvel universe cosplays and photoshoots! Each girl included a small description of their character(s) followed by two photos! They are all unique and awesome, check them out Marvel fans...

GG Leen Isabel - Psylocke

My first cosplay in my life had to be Psylocke! She's been my favorite super-hero since I was a child. However, I have no idea how I managed to wear something so daring for my first cosplay experience. Yeesh! However, the outfit is comfortable enough to potentially kick ass in. :) We never did a formal shoot in this costume so all these photos are from SDCC. And for my first year experience, I had a BLAST. WHY? I got to meet both Chris Claremont and Milo Manara! That year, they had worked on the highly anticipated X-Women issue. So gorgeous. :) This outfit was created for me by the lovely Lucy Horral of Pie-Designs.

Worn at: San Diego Comic Con 2010
Featured in: Comic Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope (book) by Morgan Spurlock

GG Northern Belle Rogue - Rogue

Rogue is my namesake, but it's hardly the reason she is my favourite superhero. Rogue’s strength is something I try to channel in my own life and I often see her struggles in myself. Whether the parallels were obvious growing up when she 'became' my favourite, or thematically relevant in hindsight, these stories and lessons have helped me become a better person. The Jim Lee Rogue suit was the first cosplay I ever did and it has gone through four evolutions since the first time I made it. Since then, I've donned 4 canon Rogues including the Jim Lee and Legacy suits seen here, as well as the 80's Rogue and Messiah CompleX outfits and numerous original Rogue concepts. I've cosplayed this character many times over and each time, I've come a little closer to accepting my own rogue streak. My goal in life is to eventually complete every single outfit and uniform she's been featured in.

GG Jenn Marvel - Gambit

I absolutely love the x men, I chose gambit for this, because I love the bright colors and it was also one of the first costumes i attempted to sew. I grew up with the X men Cartoons, and i love how each x men is so unique. Each character is spectacular and I love researching and finding out about new mutants all the time. I plan on doing many more x men cosplays this year. I wore this costume to Toronto Comic con in March. it was a really fun costume to wear and is super comfortable.

GG Roxy Lee - Domino

Hey everyone, so I chose to go with Domino because she is one of if not my favorite X-Men. I always liked the anti heroes better than the good guys and she to me was the perfect anti hero. She did what she had to do to get by no matter what that meant. And she fought for whoever was winning at the time. Sure she had her glory moments of being the good guy but she also has her sassy moments of being an all out jerk and I loved that about her. Plus being a giant Deadpool fan, her rapport with him was always awesome. I wanted to go with the classic look of the longer hair mixed with a bit of the X-Force costume and the Animated series makeup. A mish mash of all Dominos. Made it my own and built the gun with my fiance, I am a gun nut so Domino is a classic choice for me. I had a blast as D and plan on wearing her again reallll soon.

GG Emmaliene - Pin Up Capt. America

Captain America has always been one of my all time favourite Marvel characters, ever since I was a little girl reading my dad's old comics! I wanted to be able to pay homage to the pin up styles that were in fashion at the time that Steve Rogers would've been frozen, so i decided to use that as my main inspiration when designing a female version of the character.

GG Evie E - Emma Frost

Emma Frost grew on me as a character, at first she didn't seem much more then a flat, sexy villain, but slowly she started to develop more and became one of my favorite x-men/mutants.

GG Critical Miss - Spider Woman

I decided to do my own version of a Bombshell Spiderwoman since I don't have a Marvel character in my costumes. She's a fab woman and I have her traditional costume in my list to do so watch for her soon.

GG Shelle-chii - MJ / Symbiote

Spiderman was a series that was close to me while I was growing up, so when I wanted to do a body paint with a twist, this amazing idea came to be. I thought it would be interesting to do a "If Mary Jane met the Symbiote" shoot, and it turned out stunning. Artistic curves went above and beyond painting this on with an airbrush. It looked so real, I couldn't believe it. And his studio at the time was the perfect spot to shoot it, as it was in an industrial looking basement, very convenient. I did make a set of 'claws' for the one hand out of masking tape, the effect was really cool once they were painted with the black.

GG ÁLI - Valkyrie

Valkyrie is one of my all time favourite characters! Being Danish, she has been known to me for quite some time…her strength, power, and lessons of equality help to keep me grounded.

GG Gina G - Snowbird & Spider Girl

Of my many Marvel costumes, Snowbird and Spider-Girl are two of my favourite builds. Snowbird is such a nostalgic, truly Canadian character, and I love portraying Narya with my Alpha Flight group at conventions. From our first debut at the Silver Snail 2011 Halloween Party, I've received so much positive feedback about this costume. It was also such a fun design to interpret!

Spider-Girl was a great challenge for me! I set out to make the suit in one day, and I'd never done such a large applique before. It was a bit tricky, but it's such a visually interesting suit to wear, and I get to do a lot of fun poses as Anya, too!

I love both of these costumes along with so many other amazing characters that Marvel has to offer, and I'm definitely a true Marvel girl at heart! Next up... Iron Man!

GG Zelda - The Phoenix

I've done tons of Marvel and X-Men cosplays and they are always so fun to do, the characters have such great designs and personalities. This Phoenix cosplay is from when I first started modeling almost 5 years ago but I still love it, it is hard not to feel powerful when you are portraying Jean Grey. The Dark Phoenix image was entirely digital except the wig and was a collaboration between myself and DW Kim, who is a professional photographer and retoucher. It was a fun challenge to try to create a version of Phoenix almost entirely from images of flames.
