Skyrim Dovahkiin Cosplay
Geek Girl
ÁLI looks amazing cosplaying as a Dovahkiin from Skyrim! Here's what she had to say...
"I am a Viking so I pretty much HAD to cosplay a Dovahkiin character from Skyrim. I had originally made both the fur costume (under the armour) and the helmet for separate cosplays, so this character ended up being an original design.
I met the photographer, Corey Graham, at a Heroes and Villians party in which I was wearing my Skyrim costume. He later asked if I wanted to do a shoot with him at this amazing location... A 2 kilometre walk in knee-high snow and it was well worth it! The water was raging and the ground's edge was lined with ice pellets hanging from mounds of snow. A perfect, dreamy location for a wild shoot!
My warrior costume was made over a two month period, in which I hand-sewed fur, reused from a long fur coat I purchased at a thrift shop. I stayed true to the lines of the coat and spirit of the animal, by not forcing the shape. Instead I let the fabric decide the exact look that the costume would have. I originally made this outfit for a music video for my first single, Cocoon, in which I created a Viking Warrior character with a back story, named 'Ria'.
Cocoon Music Video:
The skyrim helmet was adapted from the first cosplay I made entirely, named 'Goat Girl'! She is a character from Mirror Comics 'Sunset Coast', drawn by Keith Grachow. I added some fur around the horns and built up the face of the helmet with cardboard and paper-mâché and repainted it.
The armour was made in two days, and entirely out of paper-mâché. I used cardboard as the base, and when I painted it I used a hammered texture and freehanded with black acrylic paint, as I did for the helmet. I used thin brown strips of leather to tie it together.
The sword was made using cardboard and insulation foam, in which I carved out the shape of the sword. I then covered it with masking tape and paper-mâché and painted it.
Fus ro dah!!!!!!!
P.S. When walking to your photo shoot destination in knee high snow and wearing paper-maché armour, be sure to put it on the armour when you get there...it's paper remember!!!"
