Hemlock Grove Review

I have an obsession with Hemlock Grove, a new horror-thriller TV series that was released by Netflix on April 19th. Hemlock Grove is directed and produced by Eli Roth and based on the book series by Brian McGreevy (the first of which was released in 2012). It takes place in the small, fictional town of Hemlock Grove, Pennsylvania, in which a high school girl is murdered in a horrific manner (supposedly by some unknown animal). This happens shortly after the Rumanceks, a gypsy family, moves into town, causing suspicion and rumor that Peter Rumancek (played by Canadian actor Landon Liboiron) is a werewolf, and therefore the killer. Rumours of which are started by the nosy, investigative reporter wannabe, Christina Wendall (Freya Tingley). Why? Oh, because he's handsome, brooding and somewhat hairier than the other teenagers in town. Peter soon befriends Shelley (Nicole Boivin) and Roman Godfrey (Bill Skarsgård), siblings from a wealthy family with a haunting past. Their mother, Olivia Godfrey (played by Famke Janssen) is not happy about their friendship, and is certainly not a women you want to cross. It's not initially clear just what the Godfrey family is, but they are definitely supernatural in some form. The murders continue and Peter and Roman decide to take it upon themselves to find the true killer and plan end to him.

Hemlock Grove Review

In my opinion, Hemlock Grove takes the vampire/werewolf coexistence to a whole new level! It's one of the best horror-thrillers I've seen in a long time. It has a sort of True Blood like feel to it, without the cheesiness and the love triangle. I love the intensity, the wit, the all-star cast and the superb special effects. Hemlock Grove also has one of the best werewolf transformation scenes I've ever seen. You really should watch it, even for that alone! I'm already re-watching the series a second time over. I have to admit that it's partly because I have a slight crush on Peter... ;)
