"Angelus and Jazion of The Neo Tokyo Project are both ardent gamers and cosplayers, and their costumes were recently featured in a collaboration with gaming peripherals giant Razer. The tie-up saw the two as Kerrigan, the Queen of Blades and the Ghost, Nova. These images were created by The Art of Mezame, and here's what the two of them have to say about their costumes:
Angelus: I've always been drawn to strong female characters that can hold their own in the face of fate and adversity, and Kerrigan was one such character. Also, what better way to pay homage to the Queen of Blades of the Zerg swarm than to be her for a day? Creating this costume, with Steve Wang's statue as both reference and inspiration, was my first attempt at incorporating organic elements into the design. Working with latex and silicone to capture her alien skin texture was a challenge, and I'm glad it turned out the way it did!
Jazion: Everyone loves a badass psychic assassin. In fact, Nova's book was the one that inspired me to start writing stories of my own, letting me develop into the writer that I am today. What better tribute to the character that helped me unleash my creativity than recreating her in real life? The design that I chose was based off fan concept art for the unfinished game Starcraft Ghost, and it was with the help of my friends that I managed to finish the build in time for a photoshoot on my birthday. It was a learning experience, as my first costume of such ambition, and I hope to make more complex costumes in the future!"
