"X-Men has long been my absolute favorite comic series, literally since I could comprehend cartoons as a child. Jean Grey's character arc has been my favorite of the X-Men series and so for me Dark Phoenix has been something I have wanted to do since I started cosplaying. I had the idea for what I wanted about two years ago but was unsure of my ability to complete it, in comes my good friend and costume designer Jeanine Fry. Together we decided on doing a slightly more stylized version of the actual phoenix emblem instead of sticking to the original. What we came up with is what is pictured here and I absolutely love everything about it! Photographer Tino Caceres also did a wonderful job creating the mood and flames that fit well with the character of Dark Phoenix as well. This is probably my favorite cosplay to date!"
