Oscar Winning Composer James Horner Killed in Plane Crash

It has been confirmed that James Horner died Monday in a plane crash near Santa Barbara, CA. He was 61 years old. His death was confirmed by his assistant, Sylvia Patrycja, with the quote:

"We have lost an amazing person with a huge heart and unbelievable talent," Patrycja wrote on Facebook on Monday. "He died doing what he loved. Thank you for all your support and love and see you down the road."


Horner was the pilot of the small aircraft when it crashed into a remote area north of Santa Barbara. Horner won an Oscar in 1998 for original dramatic score with his work on Titanic as well an Academy Award for "My Heart Will Go On" performed by Celine Dion. The score for Titanic sold 27 million copies worldwide. He was also nominated for Oscars for the scores for Aliens, Braveheart and many others.

He will be missed by the GeekxGirls and fans around the world.

A plane registered to film composer James Horner crashed in Southern California Monday morning. No others were on board but the pilot was killed.

James Horner composed multiple movie blockbusters including Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan, Apollo 13, Titanic, Braveheart and more.

The pilot has not yet been identified, but long-time attorney Jay Cooper tells The Hollywood Reporter that no one has talked to Horner since.

The single-engine S312 Tucano crashed from unknown circumstances approximately 60 miles north of Santa Barbara, on Monday morning, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
