Breakfast at Tiffany's Photoshoot

Duchess Silk did this gorgeous photoshoot inspired by Breakfast at Tiffany's and Truman Capote and here's what she had to say...

"Breakfast at Tiffany's' hit cinemas in 1961, with actress Audrey Hepburn playing the role of Holly Golightly. The role cemented her signature, singular style - that little black dress, pearls and diamonds, evening gloves, long cigarette holder - perfectly classic, minimalist, and made all of her own.

Readers of the original by Truman Capote will notice a lot of difference between the film and the novella. The setting, the characters, the ending, were all changed. Capote actually envisioned a Marilyn Monroe Holly Golightly, yet Hepburn is so perfect in the protagonist role, it's hard to imagine any other.

What doesn't change much is Holly Golightly's tumultuous relationship with her neighbour, Mr Yunioshi. He's a Japanese man, and very successful as a photography artist. Of course, it's possible you've repressed him, as in the film he's portrayed by a yellow paint faced, super stereotyped Mickey Rooney. One of the reasons I prefer the book to the film - you don't feel like you're stuck at a family gathering with your super racist great uncle, waiting for the scene to end.

Holly Golightly annoys her neighbour Yunioshi a great deal - late parties, loud arguments with drunk men disappointed she's leaving them at the door, and of course, Holly losing her keys and waking him up at dawn so he'll let her in to the apartment block. When he regularly threatens to call the police, she calms him down by promising to allow him to take some risque, boudoir style photos of her.

The photos never happen, because Hollly Golightly is wonderfully talented at what she does - presenting a perfect male fantasy, getting what she needs to survive, and moving on before the fantasy becomes tarnished by reality. But the idea intrigued me, and I wanted to blend the film's iconic style with a elegant boudoir shoot. The little black dress because a negligee, but beyond that, very little has changed.

And here it is..."
