Northern Belle Rogue on the Suicide Squad Set

Rogue snagged so some shots of the Suicide Squad set in downtown Toronto and even visited as Harley Quinn...
During Victoria Day weekend many people headed out of town and began opening cottages and participating in the usual revelry. I, on the other hand, had to work. Upon my arrival to work I noticed a police officer standing guard, and I made a joke that I didn't realize I'd be getting security today. We ended up striking up a conversation in which he informed me that just south of us they were filming Suicide Squad: The Movie. After my shift, on my walk home I was surprised when a flash of pink caught my eye. It was the custom pink sports car for the Joker, and a little green headed flash told me that I was only steps away from Jared Leto! I snagged a shot from the distance I was at, you can't see much, but the blob on the far left is him.
When I got home I posted to social media that I had found Mr. J and debated getting into my own Harley get up and heading back down, but that I didn't want to be rude. Someone had commented that "You only live once, be rude!" While I totally understand the sentiment behind it I also have great respect for the actors, production team and crews working on films, and I can only imagine how exhausting it is trying to constantly deal with crowds of people just hoping for a glimpse. So I left it alone, although later when I saw coverage of the night
I somewhat regretted it. How often would I get the opportunity to be Harley in my own city that is also currently Midway City?!
The next day, Victoria Day (May the 18th) while headed out to pick up some wine for a dinner party that evening, suddenly I discovered a new set for Midway City... a piece of a plane! I noticed, that the streets would be closed off until 6am, so I figured this my second chance to be able to get my Harley on. After my dinner party had finished, I donned the usual white, black 'n' red and headed out for a walk around the block.
As I had previously stated on my social media pages, my intention was not to be rude or get in the way of anyone filming. As a result you'll noticed none of the shots are particularly 'daring'. I waited until an hour when most people were already home in bed and I stayed on the outskirts, well out of the way of those trying to do their job. At every barricade however there were tons of people hanging about hoping to get a glimpse of The Suicide Squad. One individual even brought their 6 month puppy appropriately named Harley Quinn. (Of course we simply HAD to get a picture together)
More than a couple production crew members and police officers joked around with me asking "Shouldn't you be on set?". To which I promptly responded that they had the wrong Harley and it was all a plot to steal Mr. J from me! It was entertaining. Of course, there were times when all had to be quiet on set and it wasn't long after these calls that we would start to see smoke billowing up from where the "plane crash" had been set up. I spent about half an hour walking around the outskirt of the set, chatting to a few people and of course snapping some Harley photos in good ol' Midway City! ;)
The Suicide Squad film is scheduled to continue filming around the downtown core until August 2015, the movie itself is scheduled to come out in 2016. Will you be headed to theatres to catch this flick? I probably will just to see how many set locations I know! Haha. What a fun fringe benefit of living in a big city, and just think, if I hadn't forgotten to pick up wine I might never have known!
