Classic Catwoman Cosplay
Holland Tayloe Gedney looks amazing cosplaying as Classic Catwoman and here's what she had to say about it...
"For Halloween this year I chose to theme my costume as the Gotham Sirens with two of my best friends. One of them had the idea to make classic costumes instead and I loved the idea! My first challenge when embarking on my classic Catwoman costume was choosing which of the many variations I wished to make and then sorting through the variations of the time period I chose. I admit I chose the Bronze age based on the fact that I already had the shoes in my wardrobe, and the Bronze Age design is based on the Golden Age design, but when it came down to the details I ended up going more toward the Catwoman from the alternate Earth (Earth Two). Basically I chose the costume aesthetics I liked from the comics I browsed from these periods.
It’s made from a stretch polyester, the dress and cowl are dyed the correct shade of purple with Dharma Trading group polyester dyes; the mask gets its reflective sheen from a satin base sprayed over with a metallic black car spray paint (I had some left over from painting over the curb scratches on my car).
I traveled to NYC to see friends over Halloween and specifically so I could have the real Gotham (New York City) as my backdrop and to work again with my good friend and amazing photographer Mike Caffrey. As always I was super impressed by his capabilities both to find a perfect location and in his photography. We shot at night, and he used manual focus while instructing me to move around as much as possible. Very few of these images came from posed shots. How awesome is he?
Most of these are unedited - I added a little bat symbol to one for the fun of it in a light that was in the background of the shot, and for a few I boosted the contrast which wasn’t needed necessarily but I thought gave them an extra punch. For some of the shots my dressed turned out Pink due to the the nature of shooting at night, but I sort of loved it so I included one of those here too."
