Devon looks wonderful in her impressive Saber cosplay from the anime Fate/stay night and Fate/zero! Here is what she had to say...
"This costume was my ‘official’ tenth anniversary creation- My first convention and cosplay were September 17, 2004, and I was able to debut this costume at a new convention (AWA) on September 27, 2014.
I tried to get a balance of historical accuracy and aesthetics while I made this costume. The petticoat is entirely cotton, over 185 feet of fabric ruffled into three layers and a bask skirt. The white dress (skirt, bodice) are made of crepe, and the scallops at the bottom are made with a cotton facing. The blue is polished 100% cotton. The gold trim is true dupioni silk, and I hand-stitched all of it onto the dress. The buttons on the front of the bodice are silver saddlery conchos.
As far as skill goes, this costume was an attempt to push myself out of my comfort zone. I can’t say I learned anything especially new with it, but it was still challenging enough to be enjoyable, and I felt accomplished when I finished. I plan to go through and upgrade much of it this winter, and make many more versions of Saber in the future!"
