"As a huge Tolkien fan, when I heard a non-canon female elf was being added to The Hobbit movies, I was cynical. But Tauriel didn't disappoint! I loved her ferocity paired with her femininity, and set about making her not for any particular con, but just because I suddenly needed to frolic around with knives in hand and that awesome auburn hair flowing (well, tangling) around me. The wig was a long, hard journey, definitely the toughest part of the crafting experience, but working on it was rewarding; I learned so much trying to wrangle it."
