Black Butler
Black Butler takes place in Victorian era Europe and follows Ciel Phantomhive, the head of a noble family. His butler, the demonic Sebastien Michaelis, helps the boy avenge his family's death in exchange for his soul. The film will be a continuation of the series though some characters and the settings will be changed for the live action version. For example, rather than Europe, the movie setting will take place in an unnamed city in the year 2010. Hiro Mizushima will play Sebastien.

Kenshin
Following the successful first installment of the Kenshin trilogy directed by Keishi Ohtomo, the 2014 Kenshin film will follow the title character through the Kyoto arc. Kenshin fans will finally get to see the dangerous Shishio Makoto in action. Takeru Sato will reprise his role as former assassin Kenshin Himura who wanders fictional Meiji era Japan to atone for murders he committed in a past profession. The two films based after Nobuhiro Watsuki's manga will both be released this summer.

Lupin the 3rd
The incredibly popular manga and anime series will finally see it's live action interpretation! Can you believe that Lupin was first introduced in 1967? The movie will see a focus in how the main characters meet. Shun Oguri will play the French thief, Arsene Lupin III. It is reported that the actor had to lose weight in order to play the iconically slim character. Meisa Kuroki will play the cunning and dangerously beautiful Fujiko Mine.

Parasyte
Parasyte is a manga that began in 2000. The main character, Shinichi Izumi, had his right hand taken over by a parasitic alien. Together, the duo fight the odds to survive in one body. This series will be a 2 part-er with The Grudge director Takeshi Shimizu at the helm. Shota Sometani (shown) will star as Shinichi.

Patlabor
In near future Tokyo, large robots called "Labors" help a futuristic Tokyo in construction and patrol. The famous manga will be produced into 12 episodes with special screenings with a full length film coming out in 2015. Erina Mano will star as pilot, Akira Izumino.

Thermae Romae
The sequel to the the 2012 Thermae Romae was released in April 2014. We again follow the adventures of ancient Roman Lucius who travels into the future to a Japanese bathhouse with the intention to bring back modern Japanese innovations to ancient Rome. Hiroshi Abe will once again star as Lucius. Aya Ueto will play the part of Mami Yamakoshi who is attracted to the Lucius. Part of the film was done in a colosseum in Bulgaria.
