J Ravensong Productions looks awesome as Marvel's Black Widow! Here's what she said about her cosplay...

"I have always loved Black Widow (and of course strong and cunning female characters in general) and my love was rekindled when The Avengers came out (a huge Joss Whedon fan). While setting to work on a Black Widow costume (like Scarlett Johansson’s version) I came across an image of a Bishoujo Black Widow figurine (shown in one of the pics below) and LOVED the look of it! Bishoujo is Japanese for “pretty girl” and I adore how these figures show us a softer side to these bad-ass characters. So I instantly started to work on the outfit, most of the work was the belt.

Bishoujo Black Widow has a 3 dimensional belt and required some research and planning. Thymehadder Photography helped me scout out my options and then I got to work! I cast the belt pieces using Quick Cast (a polyurethane casting resin), I used the little molding cup as the actual mold ;) After they set all the way I used my Dremmel to create the “bullet marks” on the black pieces and to hand carve the Black Widow emblem on the front piece. Then they got painted, sealed and hot glued onto a belt I had (E6000 didn’t hold, hot glue ftw!).

The rest of the costume was using items I already had. I painted some bullets from a bandolier bullet belt gold (I intend to improve on this in the future), used a cat suit I had (which actually matches the character perfectly) and then we went to town with some fun pics ;) While there have been oodles of version of Natasha (or whatever she goes by at the time) since she was introduced in 1964, I really love this version. I do see a few more version of Ms. Romanova in the future though!"
